It’s Recommends Day Wednesday!

Welcome to a new feature here at DIH, wherein I briefly recommend a movie you should totally add to your Netflix queue post-haste!

Black Sheep is a 2007 film by New Zealand writer and director Jonathan King. And it’s about zombie sheep!

Okay, so we’re agreed that this movie looks really dumb, yes? And you’re not wrong. This movie is dumb. It’s also hilarious, weird, BLOODY AS HELL and, implausibly, sometimes scary! Black Sheep has some atrocious gore and exceptionally great dialogue. It also has the CUTEST  boy in it, this guy:

Sorry, that’s the only picture of him I could find. His name’s Matt Chamberlain and he’s cute in just the way Marla likes them: blonde, large of brow and nose, with an accent. Had he a beard, I would have recommended this movie a looooong time ago.

Moving on: even if you’re not inclined towards gorgeous blonde boys (and what is wrong with you, I ask?), this movie has something for everyone! Were-sheep! A treatise for naturally raised farm animals! A new and disturbing definition of the word animal husbandry! And lots and lots of this!

So yeah, cozy down on your sofa one Sunday afternoon, indulge in some J sparkage and rent Black Sheep. It will change your life!*

*No, it won’t.

Review Retraction:

Okay, so it doesn’t look like I’m going to get to a review of Half-Blood Prince this week, sadly.  Maybe next! Or you could just go to Rotten Tomatoes and read one of the 213 reviews posted there!

Look for my interview with Deadgirl screenwriter Trent Haaga tomorrow!

  1. Black Sheep is probably the only “horror” movie that both Jill and I have loved! The fx really are amazing – Peter Jackson’s crew did them – and it really does somehow manage to be absolutely ridiculous, yet still actually (occasionally) scary. Also, of course, totally entertaining from beginning to end.

I concur with this recommendation! I concur strongly!

  2. Jill loves sheep and cute boys, so I do not find this news surprising! It makes me sad that the concept of zombie sheep still didn’t convince Jill that it’s okay to eat lamb.

  3. Yes, I really need to see Black Sheep! Now I feel shamed into it, in a good way.

  4. Thanks for any other fantastic article. The place else may just anybody get
that kind of info in such a perfect approach of writing?
I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I am at the
    search for such info.
