Extra! Extra! Lost aired its finale this week! Maybe you heard something about that?

Welcome to News Day Tuesday, where we bring you what incredibly scarce non-Lost scoop we could dig up from the internet this week!

Megan Fox will not be in the third Transformers movies. She quit. Also she was fired because she’s too skinny. Furthermore, she quit because director Michael Bay was verbally abusive. At any rate, various names are being bandied about to replace Fox in the franchise. None of those names is Heidi Montag, despite her urgent tweeting to the contrary. (You can read my post on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the megalomaniacal Bay here.) Continue reading

Posted in Blog News, Random Tidbits with tags , , , , , , on May 21, 2010 by xymarla

That’s right! Today is the day that I unleash the full magnitude of my geekiness upon the internet! Because…

I’ve started a blog devoted entirely to Smallville! Feast your brains on THIS:

In honor of the 10th and final season, I am no longer able to restrain myself from blogging CONSTANTLY about this show. However,  I don’t want to subject loyal DIH readers to the incessant posts, so instead, I shall only subject you to incessant LINKS to those posts on my new blog!

I’ve already copied my DIH Smallville posts onto Watchtower and I’m going to post tons of new stuff there all the time. So give a sister a hand and check out my welcome post. And if you’re curious about the title, go here.

Quickie Review: Paranormal Activity

Posted in Film Review, Horror Movie Review, Quickie Review with tags , , , on May 20, 2010 by xymarla

Guys, Paranormal Activity is really good! Why didn’t any of you tell me?!

haha! Okay, just kidding. You totally did tell me. Repeatedly. But I was busy! And now that I’ve finally seen it, I can say with authority—DANG! You weren’t lying!

Paranormal Activity has a beautifully simple premise: Katie and Micah live together and have been experiencing some spooky bumps in the night. They set up a camera and start documenting the events. This straightforward scenario allows for a minimum cast, raw footage, one location, and a budget of—get this: ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS! And it grossed over $100 MILLION! Because it is scary as hell!

Extra! Extra! Marla Unveils New Blog!

That’s right, kidlets! Today’s NDTD is a shortie because I’m hard at work on the unveiling of A NEW BLOG! Don’t worry, my first baby will always be my favorite.  But head back here on Friday to meet the shiny new offspring!

Tim Burton is taking on the iconic manga Mai the Psychic Girl. The internet is unsure how to feel about this.

Futurama is filled with nerdy physics goodness! Serious science. Seriously! Continue reading

Smallville Season Finale Scoop!

Posted in Television News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 14, 2010 by xymarla

(Like this post? Check out my other blog Watchtower, your information home base for all things Smallville!)

Holla! Tonight’s the night, my friends! The Season 9 finale for Smallville! This has been a solid season (okay, the Kandorians plot is hella boring. But it’s almost over! Rao willing.) and I’m psyched for what’s sure to be a stellar finale. How do I know?  Because it’s Smallville, suckas! EVERY finale is awesome. EVERY ONE. Even the crappy seasons! All the finales rule except, conversely, Season 8’s, which was in every other respect Smallville’s best season. That was…weird.

But! Season 9! Finale! Sure to be awesome! Here’s some scoop to wet your whistle. Continue reading

Iron Man 2

Posted in Comic Book Movie Review, Film Review with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 12, 2010 by xymarla

Tony Stark is back, bishes! He’s back and refreshingly unchanged as the flawed, hard-partying narcissist with whom we fell in love back in 2008. It’s comforting to realize that in an ever-changing world of chaos and confusion, our Great American Hero remains immutable.

But wait! say you. Superman is the Great American Superhero! I mean, his slogan is “Truth, Justice and the American Way,” for crying out loud! And that’s true, if you’re rather adorably delusional about what it actually means to be an American. Rich, arrogant, bullying, imperious, as red-state as Glenn Beck and a hell of a lot more handsome, Iron Man is about as American as they come. And this bleeding heart blue-stater is mad crushing on him, anyway!

Extra! Extra! Fright Night Remake is Sounding Disconcertingly...Decent?!

With a respectable cast of Colin Farrell, Toni Collete and Anton Yelchin, I find myself waving my fist slightly less vigorously at news of the Fright Night remake. This Remake vs. Original is shapin’ up to be a doozy! Thanks to Jerry for the link. (Read my review of the original Fright Night here.)

There’s some seriously rad Tron Legacy concept art at the link!

Comedy Central’s hooking up those of us desperate for some new Futurama scoop with a new Countdown post every weekday until the new premiere on June 24! I actually found myself DISAPPOINTED when I realized that I would be drinking rum punch on a beach in Mexico during the premiere. Sad, Marla. Sad. Continue reading

Remake Vs. Original! A Nightmare on Elm Street

Welcome to a new feature at Danny Isn’t Here, wherein Hollywood must answer to my poison pen for their incessant remakes! Now, I realize that this feature will require my watching many, many shitty remakes, but because I am both brave AND bored, I shall endeavor to do so. FOR YOU.

And thus! I bring to you:

 versus  !

Round One! The basics.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, 1984. Written and directed by Wes Craven. 91 minutes.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, 2010. Written by Wesley Strick and Eric Heisserer, directed by Samuel Baker. 95 minutes. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! More panic-inducing Dark Tower news!

Yes, before it was JJ and now it’s Ron, but either way it’s WRONG. However, I do approve of the television series angle

Speaking of JJ, he has a secret project coming up called Super 8 which may or may not be a sequel of sorts to Cloverfield

I saw this Jonah Hex trailer last night for Nightmare, and oh lord, is it lolz-inducing. Continue reading
