dark shadows

Michelle Pfeiffer is in talks to reunite with her Batman Returns director Tim Burton, possibly joining Johnny Depp, Eva Green and Jackie Earle Haley for Dark Shadows. You can read a interview here with Barnabas Depp about the film.

wrong turn 2

The plot summary for the upcoming Wrong Turn 4 sounds nothing like a Wrong Turn movie. Whatever.

Check out the trailer and stills gallery for the Landis-produced Some Guy Who Kills People, starring the great Kevin Corrigan, Lucy Davis, Barry Bostwick and Karen Black! I really, really dig it.

Yay! Carpenter’s The Ward has a U.S. distributor! Ignore the shitty one-sheet and refresh yourself with the rad trailer. Continue reading

joseph gordon levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s supposedly in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises, although no one knows what character he might portray. Hopefully a shirtless one.

Woah! MTV is bringing back Beavis and Butthead with Mike Judge’s involvement. I am cautiously optimistic about this venture. They’ve also set a premiere date for Teen Wolf, for which I am wholeheartedly pessimistic.

Cobie Smulders is in for Joss’s The Avengers, playing S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Maria Hill. Joss continues his mission to work with every cast member of How I Met Your Mother. Continue reading

Yummy, sufficiently square-jawed British actor Henry Cavill has been cast as Zack Snyder’s Superman in the upcoming flick produced by Christopher Nolan. Cavill previously represented the hottest part of The Tudors as Charles Brandon. Hollywood can rest easy: I approve.

Now that The Dark Tower series adaptation is allegedly taking off, Hollywood is turning its eye to another epic Stephen King property, The Stand.  Warner Bros. are planning to adapt the film onto the big screen, unlike the lovably shitty 90s mini-series. This will need to be made into at least two movies, I believe.

roland

In related news, Javier Bardem has officially been offered the part of Roland in The Dark Tower series. Bardem’s a fiercely talented, duly craggy actor, so I’m pleased. I’d be pleased-er if Bardem turned down the role and then it went to Viggo, but we can’t get everything we want, can we? Check out my Dark Tower casting call: Round One (the main ka-tet), Round Two (the allies) and Round Three (the villains). You can also read my thorough predictions for the upcoming adaptation here.

Bardem has also been offered the villain’s role in the latest Bond film, should MGM get its shit together and that movie ever actually happens. Bardem was also recently nominated for an Oscar and just had a baby with the brain-searingly hot Penelope Cruz, so he’s officially having the Best Week Ever. Continue reading

oscar

The Oscar nominations have been announced with lots of fanfare and few surprises.

As you’ve probably heard by now, Oscar snubbee Christopher Nolan has cast Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as totally random and inexplicable villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. That said, Bane is often wearing tiny wrestling suits that show his rippling muscles to best effect, so I approve of this casting.

wonder-woman

The news keeps changing about this project. NBC has picked up the pilot for David E. Kelley’s (almost definitely) abomination of a Wonder Woman show. If there are any fucking dancing babies on this show, I will use my Lasso of Truth to garrote Kelley’s scrawny little neck.

Beware the new Scream 4 trailer unless you want to know absolutely everything that will happen in the movie, as if you couldn’t figure that out on your own. Also beware the new trailer if you don’t want to die of meta overdose. Check out some new stills at the link.

Of the many Wizard of Oz-adjacent projects on the horizon, the only one other than the Wicked mini-series that I’ve found at all intriguing was the idea of Robert Downey, Jr. playing the Wizard in the prequel Oz, The Great and Terrible. But now RDJ, whom I would have quite liked to see in a quirky fantasy role, has dropped out, to be possibly replaced by Johnny Depp, who plays nothing BUT quirky fantasy roles. Bored now. Apologies! I know all I’ve done on ye olde blogge lately is NDTD and link to my Badass Digest posts, and please trust that I am duly chagrined about that. I’m going to move this baby back to the front burner as soon as I get everything sorted, but thanks for your patience in the meantime. As a token of my gratitude, please enjoy an extra-newsy News Day!Wicked

Amidst the virtual crap storm of Oz movies that are floating around Hollywood these days, the project nearest to my heart is finally coming to life! ABC is developing an adaptation of Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked–from which the blockbuster musical sprung–in the ideal format for it, a mini-series.

Lots of The Green Hornet news as its release date looms. Go behind the scenes here, gape in amazement at the outrageous budget along with Seth Rogen here, and read a great interview with Rogen here where he gives a tidbit about Seth and Jay vs. The Apocalypse and name-drops The Mist (hell yes!) as its inspiration.

Monsters director Gareth Edwards is going to billionuple his budget by taking on  Godzilla next. Continue reading

RIP, Pete Postlethwaite. You were one of the greats.

dark tower 2

Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen have been mentioned as the potential stars to land the role of Roland Deschain in Ron Howard’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. Team Viggo! You can read my Dream Casting list of the main characters here, the allies of the ka-tet here, and the big baddies of the series here.

The cast is shaping up for Chris Fisher’s adaptation of the Thomas Berger novel Meeting Evil.  Luke Wilson, Samuel L. Jackson, Leslie Bibb and Smallville‘s Peyton List have all joined the cast. The novel’s supposed to be wonderful; here’s hoping Chris “S. Darko” Fisher doesn’t screw it up!

You can check out a gallery here for Lucky McKee’s The Woman, reuniting the director with Angela Bettis, the star of his terrific May. Continue reading

christmas evil

Happy holidays, spooks. My gift to all the good boys and girls is plenty of juicy scoop, straight from their blogs to my blog to you!

cabin in the woods

It’s a Christmas miracle! MGM’s allegedly getting back on its feet, which is good news for the next Bond film, for The Hobbit and oh! oh! For Joss and Drew’s The Cabin in the Woods!

paul

The trailer for Greg Mottola’s Paul, starring the unbeatable duo of Pegg and Frost along with Seth Rogen’s charming voice and every other comedic actor I have ever enjoyed in the past five years, is just totally adorable.

katee sackhoff

In what sounds like a pretty clever conceit, BSG badass Katee Sackhoff will play the title character in Sexy Evil Genius. Could be great, despite the fact that it will be headed by the showrunner on ABC Fam’s Greek, which is probably not a good show.

heather morris

Glee‘s resident delightful dumbass Heather Morris confirms that she’s in talks to play Buffy in the ill-advised remake. I still don’t give a shit about this remake, but that’s not bad casting. Continue reading
