An Impassioned Defense of JENNIFER’S BODY

Posted in Film Review, Horror Movie Review with tags , , , , , , on April 7, 2011 by xymarla

Rewatching JENNIFER’S BODY just reminds me what a damned shame it is that this movie was panned and ignored. I blame you.

Check out my post at Badass Digest, wherein I make an impassioned defense of the movie, of screenwriter Diablo Cody and yes, of Megan Fox.

oscar

The Oscar nominations have been announced with lots of fanfare and few surprises.

As you’ve probably heard by now, Oscar snubbee Christopher Nolan has cast Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as totally random and inexplicable villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. That said, Bane is often wearing tiny wrestling suits that show his rippling muscles to best effect, so I approve of this casting.

wonder-woman

The news keeps changing about this project. NBC has picked up the pilot for David E. Kelley’s (almost definitely) abomination of a Wonder Woman show. If there are any fucking dancing babies on this show, I will use my Lasso of Truth to garrote Kelley’s scrawny little neck.

Beware the new Scream 4 trailer unless you want to know absolutely everything that will happen in the movie, as if you couldn’t figure that out on your own. Also beware the new trailer if you don’t want to die of meta overdose. Check out some new stills at the link.

Of the many Wizard of Oz-adjacent projects on the horizon, the only one other than the Wicked mini-series that I’ve found at all intriguing was the idea of Robert Downey, Jr. playing the Wizard in the prequel Oz, The Great and Terrible. But now RDJ, whom I would have quite liked to see in a quirky fantasy role, has dropped out, to be possibly replaced by Johnny Depp, who plays nothing BUT quirky fantasy roles. Bored now. We'll miss you, Harvey.

Welcome back to News Day Tuesday, where you might find my reporting to be rather lackadaisical because I’m so sad about Harvey Pekar.  Also: I’m lazy.

The 2010 Comic Con schedule is up! Go here to make yourself physically sick with envy, just like me!

I’m not sure how I feel about this All About Evil trailer. Perhaps…warmly? Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Insert Clever Headline Here!

Hello all! Thanks to the delightful Reverend Jon for subbing last week. Let’s get to it!

Movie titles keep getting dumber and dumber, to my infinite delight. 5nal Destination is going to rock my gleefully mocking/secretly enjoying ass off!

The international trailer for Let Me In looks like the shit just shit. Even Hit Girl can’t save this one! Check out the original,  folks (titled Let the Right One In, from Norway). It’s easily accessible from your friendly neighborhood Netflix account. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! More panic-inducing Dark Tower news!

Yes, before it was JJ and now it’s Ron, but either way it’s WRONG. However, I do approve of the television series angle

Speaking of JJ, he has a secret project coming up called Super 8 which may or may not be a sequel of sorts to Cloverfield

I saw this Jonah Hex trailer last night for Nightmare, and oh lord, is it lolz-inducing. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Jane Lynch does a better Madonna than Madonna!

Yes, that woman can do ANYTHING. In other Glee news, Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schuester) gives a charming interview to Vulture and blows my mind with a breakdance-off versus Other Asian. Look forward to the Madonna episode tonight!

Big Tits Zombie 3D wins the award for awesomest title and most promising trailer of the week. Ping-Pong Zombie! Sushi Zombie! And most importantly, Strippers vs. Zombie!!

The legendary Samuel L. Jackson talks about his role as the legendary Nick Fury in Iron-Man 2 and teases us with some Avengers scoop. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! I saw the face-melting Tron Legacy trailer in IMAX 3D!

And you can too, if you watch Alice in Wonderland! Or you can just watch it on your computer screen and only melt your face a little bit. (read my Alice review here.)

Meredith over at io9 broke down the trailer and analyzed each still for us. Do you guys think if I stole her identity, she’d notice?

And she’s got the brand new Iron Man 2 trailer here. May 7th! May 7th!  Continue reading
