golden globes

The Golden Globe nominations have been announced, and they’re all tedious and wrong and stupid, as per yuuzh.

Click here for the ‘splodey and slo-mo heavy Thor trailer. I know this is probably not the intended reaction, but all I got out of this trailer was “Yay! Agent Coulson!!”

why helloooo

Boo. My favorite champion of personal assistants everywhere, Pepper Potts, will not be in The Avengers. There probably wasn’t room for her fabulous wardrobe on set. Continue reading

alien

In news that surprises no one, Ridley Scott’s Alien prequels have been pushed back for the umpteenth time.

You can see here two teaser one-sheets for Kevin Smith’s Red State, a horror movie that I am inexplicably excited to see. Seriously, why? I cannot answer that question. Maybe it’ll be awesome.

Now I can definitely get behind THIS project. Guillermo del Toro, the busiest man in the biz, has just confirmed that he’s moving forward with his Lovecraft adaptation, the epically titled At the Mountains of Madness. With James Cameron, somehow. Continue reading

betty brant

Zooey Deschanel is being considered as Daily Bugle secretary Betty Brant in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, the role delightfully captured by Elizabeth Banks in that super-old black and white version that came out a hundred years ago. Or, like, 5 minutes ago, what have you. Andrew Garfield (as Spidey) and Emma Stone (as Gwen Stacy) will co-star.

wes anderson

Wes Anderson’s newest opus, Moon Rise Kingdom, will boast a giant amazing ensemb cast as per yuuzh. Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Edward Norton and Bruce Willis are all said to star in the upcoming noir thriller. Sweet! Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Wonder Woman is getting the shaft again!

Ugh. So although Hollywood will spit out a dozen movies a year with random, no-big-deal MALE comic book characters, one of the greatest superheroes of all time who happens to be a woman can’t get one single damned feature film. The long-touted Wonder Woman movie is now a television show. Oh AND?! It’s being written/produced by the abysmal David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal). THIS IS BULLSHIT.

Some scoop from the set of X-Men: First Class, being shot at Oxford currently.

And we’ve got some news from NYCC regarding the Deadpool movie and which other Marvel characters we can expect to see, including…Colossus! The coolest X-Man ever! Obvs Ryan Reynolds will not reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine because he’s got bigger, greener, lanternier fish to fry.

wolverine

Speaking of our least favorite comic book movie of all time, serious-business director Darren Aronofsky is considering following the immense critical success of Black Swan with a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Yes, okay, that sounds reasonable utterly insane and made up. (Read my review of Wolverine here.) Continue reading

Hello film lovers! I’m taking a brief respite from my voracious consumption of the new Stephen King joint Under the Dome to bring you a hurried and distracted NDTD. Then let me get back to my book, for god’s sake!

I find myself bankrupt of words powerful enough to express my profound relief at this news: the imprudent remake of Oldboy directed by Stephen Spielberg and starring Will Smith has been squashed. Guys, I actually like Stephen Spielberg. I totally LOVE Will Smith. But this was the worst fucking idea ever conceived in Hollywood, the city that is bringing us White Chicks 2. Oh by the by, Will’s now going to be starring in the adaptation of Flowers for Algernon so…there’s that.

Oh man, this news is so geeksweet I can barely type it for spazzing! PAM GRIER IS JOINING THE CAST OF SMALLVILLE AS AMANDA WALLER. Dudes! The casting is so epic and the plot implications so thrilling that I absolutely cannot WAIT for her arc to begin. ZOMG!!

presskid by you.

Hello, homies! I know I’ve done pretty much nothing but NDTD on the old blog lately, but fear not—after October, my life returns to normalcy and I will throw myself back into this blog with a ferocity that will FREAK YOU OUT, okie doke? In the meantime: SCOOP!

sorority row by you.

You can check out the opening 3 minutes of Sorority Row here. It looks…precisely the way I thought it would look, which is to say, retarded. Anything that bills itself as”Audrina Patridge’s new slasher flick” sure isn’t aiming high, is it? Hey Andy from Step Up 2–what are you doing in this movie??
