The latest adaptation of one of my favorite novels, Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre, opens next week. Mia Wasikowska is ideally cast as the solemn governess, and Sin Nombre‘s Cary Fukunaga is an intriguing choice of director. I’d like to believe this adaptation will do justice to the dark, creepy, romantic-yet-feminist novel that I love so well. Here’s hoping, and in the meantime, here are twelve feature films that certainly did live up to the kick-ass novels from which they were adapted.

superman

Zack Snyder has been chosen as the director for the Superman reboot by producer Christopher Nolan. The movie will be written by David Goyer. Solid choice, guys. To no one’s surprise, Brandon Routh is probably not being asked to return as the title hero in tights.

the hobbit

Also Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit will be released in 3D. Obvs.

spiderman

Philip Seymour Hoffman’s name is being bandied about as Venom in the Spider-Man reboot, probably just to get skeptics like myself to be interested in it. Well played, bishes. Continue reading
