I’ve been bored with vampires since before being bored with vampires was cool. And yet? I can’t wait for Amy Heckerling’s Vamps. Here’s why: AMY HECKERLING. I simply can’t imagine that Heckerling’s coy, subversive humor won’t serve even the tired paranormal romance trend.

Stick around to the end of the post for some exciting updates in Marla land!

Christopher Nolan has revealed the catchy title of his third Batman flick, The Dark Knight Rises. He rules out The Riddler as the film’s villain, which leaves…who? Deadshot? Catwoman? Poison Ivy? Harley Quinn? Mr. Freeze?! WHO WILL IT BE?

Extra! Extra! Super Short Edition!

Sorry for the quickie, friends, but I’ll be back in form next week!

The international trailer for Guillem Morales’s Julia’s Eyes (Los ojos de Julia) is eerie and gorgeous. It’s produced by Guillermo del Toro, and I want to see it. (I’d say that sentence is redundant, but after last week’s Haunted Mansion news, Guillermo is no longer a sure bet.)

Extra! Extra! Only Amy Heckerling has the power to make vampires awesome again!

Star Krysten Ritter reveals that Amy Heckerling’s next film will be a “Clueless for vampires,” a premise which seems capable of single-handedly reviving the dwindling empire of sparkle moodiness.

The Superman reboot will be written by Batman Begins and Blade screenwriter David Goyer. This is good news! The remake will not star Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth and it will not be directed by Bryan Singer. This is also good news!

Wow.

Since I was a little girl, I have loved going to the movies. That feeling of fluttery elation, of arriving to the theater in plenty of time to grab my favorite seat, guessing which trailers will precede the feature and mocking the ones that look awful, squeezing the forearm of my date in giddy anticipation and squealing under my breath, “It’s about to start!”—I wish I could bottle that feeling.  Working at a movie theater didn’t lessen my enthusiasm for movies. Becoming a film critic (of sorts!) hasn’t eroded my rapture at a cinematic outing. Hell, I met my husband at a movie theater, and anyone who knows us knows how poetic that really is. I am a girl who simply LOVES the movies, and on Friday evening at the IMAX theater in Houston, Texas, James Cameron reminded me why.
