Extra! Extra! Wonder Woman is getting the shaft again!

Ugh. So although Hollywood will spit out a dozen movies a year with random, no-big-deal MALE comic book characters, one of the greatest superheroes of all time who happens to be a woman can’t get one single damned feature film. The long-touted Wonder Woman movie is now a television show. Oh AND?! It’s being written/produced by the abysmal David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal). THIS IS BULLSHIT.

Some scoop from the set of X-Men: First Class, being shot at Oxford currently.

And we’ve got some news from NYCC regarding the Deadpool movie and which other Marvel characters we can expect to see, including…Colossus! The coolest X-Man ever! Obvs Ryan Reynolds will not reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine because he’s got bigger, greener, lanternier fish to fry.

Speaking of our least favorite comic book movie of all time, serious-business director Darren Aronofsky is considering following the immense critical success of Black Swan with a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Yes, okay, that sounds reasonable utterly insane and made up. (Read my review of Wolverine here.) Continue reading

Extra! Extra! James Cameron knows how to make some money!

Surprising no one, Avatar destroyed DVD and Blu-Ray records with its release on Earth Day. I’m curious to see if Pandora holds up on my (admittedly awesome) 2D television. (Read my Avatar review here.)

The internet’s abuzz with news of a new 3D sequel to The Ring. Why anyone cares is a mystery to me.

Bryan Singer and Usual Suspects writer Christopher McQuarrie are reuniting for Jack the Giant Killer. Sometimes this team is flawless. Sometimes they make Valkyrie. Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Only Amy Heckerling has the power to make vampires awesome again!

Star Krysten Ritter reveals that Amy Heckerling’s next film will be a “Clueless for vampires,” a premise which seems capable of single-handedly reviving the dwindling empire of sparkle moodiness.

The Superman reboot will be written by Batman Begins and Blade screenwriter David Goyer. This is good news! The remake will not star Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth and it will not be directed by Bryan Singer. This is also good news!

Check out a Q&A with Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski here. And surprise surprise, Disney’s already talking trilogyContinue reading

Extra! Extra! People still insist on reporting on the Terminator franchise!

Yes, that’s right, ladies and gentlemen. Terminator is back on the table after a furious bidding war for the rights to the franchise, held between Lionsgate, Sony and dubiously worthy company Pacificor, which won the day. Can’t wait for the repoop!

This is all very grain of salty, but Warner Bros. is said to have brought in Christopher Nolan to “godfather” a reboot of the Superman franchise in the same vein of his wildly successful Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Allegedly (hopefully?) the new inception would have nothing to do with Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns film and would not star Brandon Routh. Nolan would not direct, only sprinkle some of his gold fairy dust to make it awesome.  Continue reading
