Extra! Extra! Looks like I'm the one who has some words to eat!

Yes, despite my taunting of Eric Kripke last week,  he actually is sticking with his original plan of ditching Supernatural after five seasons. Next season will bring a new arc and a new showrunner! Not sure how I feel about this; I may just pretend the series ends with this year’s finale.

Supernatural‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Sam Worthington will star in a movie about League City’s I-45 “killing fields,” where as many as 70 bodies have turned up over the years.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of the excellent 28 Weeks Later, has a new film out called The Intruders, a fright flick centered around an 11-yr-old girl. No more details yet, but I’m excited!

The new international Tron Legacy poster is out and awesome. Continue reading

The Wolfman

The Wolfman just might be the worst movie I have ever enjoyed. A lot.

Disclaimer: It was Jerry’s birthday and we celebrated by enjoying margaritas before the movie, a quantity of which I will define as “some.” So it’s entirely possible that you might not enjoy this movie as much as I did. This could also depend on whether your specific tastes are as uniquely suited to The Wolfman as mine: camp, werewolves, bloody Victorian gothic, the word “prurient”, soap operas, and Benicio Del Toro. Oh and also camp some more. Unintentional camp, most particularly. This screenplay was just not in on the joke. The director, Joe Johnston (stepping in for original director Mark Romanek), wasn’t in on the joke either. But it certainly seemed as if the leads were!

Extra! Extra! Time to get trashed on hurricanes and earn some beads!

Happy News Day Fat Tuesday, everyone!

Check out this interview with Linda Woolverton, wherein the screenwriter for Alice in Wonderland marvels at her own audacity. You can read more Alice soundbites from Tim Burton and Johnny Depp here

Sam Raimi hates giant squids as much as Zack Snyder does. Where’s the giant squid love, y’all? Continue reading

Extra! Extra! People still insist on reporting on the Terminator franchise!

Yes, that’s right, ladies and gentlemen. Terminator is back on the table after a furious bidding war for the rights to the franchise, held between Lionsgate, Sony and dubiously worthy company Pacificor, which won the day. Can’t wait for the repoop!

This is all very grain of salty, but Warner Bros. is said to have brought in Christopher Nolan to “godfather” a reboot of the Superman franchise in the same vein of his wildly successful Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Allegedly (hopefully?) the new inception would have nothing to do with Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns film and would not star Brandon Routh. Nolan would not direct, only sprinkle some of his gold fairy dust to make it awesome.  Continue reading

Extra! Extra! News Day Tuesday is back!

I missed you, blog! I’ve been bubbling over with glorious scoop and now I can finally say that OMG I LOVE THE ART FROM TRON LEGACY! Check it:

I KNOW! I KNOW!!

Now, from the far lamer side of the news stream: Blake Lively?! As Carol Ferris?! Are you SHITTING ME? I don’t hate Blake or anything, but she’s 22 and blonde. She’s not Carol Ferris, okay? She’s not.

Oof, it’s almost Christmas, ya heard? Slave-driving Santa is keeping this little elf hella busy, so it’ll be a shortie this week!

golden globes

The Golden Globe noms are up and they’re typically boring and random. I love watching this particular kudos show because I think it’s fun and shiny, but yeah, the awards themselves are utterly irrelevant. But what do we think about exes Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron going up against one another for Best Director? EXCITING! (Y’all know I’m psyched about Avatar, and I totally accidentally missed The Hurt Locker in the theatre, but still, go Kat!)

hobbit

Hrmm. Peter Parker as Bilbo Baggins? Get out your grain of salt for this one. I still like James McAvoy for the role, but granted, I like Jimmy Mac for everything. Seriously, for every role ever.
