Check out the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine pics. There’s a whole lotta hotness happening in these shots!
Excellent. Bill Hader’s in talks to pen a slasher flick for Judd Apatow. Color me intrigued!

Superman: Doomsday is the first in a series of DC Universe animated straight-to-video movies that will be released over the next year or so. The series has also released Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight, and the most recent Wonder Woman movie which Marla has been so grievously coveting of late (I’ll SHOW you “very long wait,” Netflix!). I’ll be reviewing the entire series in due time.
FINALLY!
Here to deliver the dirt for my darlings!
Holy crap! Kick-ass American Psycho director Mary Harron signs on for the film version of Rachel Klein’s twisted vamp novel The Moth Diaries! Ginger Snaps screenwriter Karen Walton’s name has been attached to the project. A female director helming a female screenwriter’s adaptation of a female author’s horror novel? SIGN. MARLA. UP.
For some reason, WordPress has gone crazytoons and taken Marla with it. I’ve got a nice, juicy News Day Tuesday all saved up for you guys, and once WordPress lets me, I’ll post it. Until then, ARGHHHH!
There’s been some noise lately about a remake of Kathryn Bigelow’s groundbreaking 1987 genre-bender Near Dark. And while praying to a merciful god to prove this lamentable rumor false, I realized that the time had long since arrived for a rewatch of that beautifully strange film.
Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are poster looks just about right.
Both Frog brothers are in for the straight-to-vid Lost Boys 3. Riveting?
Review Preview:
Near Dark this week, Superman/Doomsday next week, and I’m trying to decide whether or not to watch and review Alex Proyas’ Friday release Knowing. What do you guys think? I mean, it has Nic Cage in it, which means it has a 5% chance of being outrageously magnificent (Adaptation, Raising Arizona) and a 95% chance of stinking like a hatful of assholes (Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, ConAir, and every other movie he’s ever made). But then there’s also Alex Proyas. Help Marla out! Do you guys care about this movie at all?
Who watched the Watchmen this week? I did! And it was awesome!
Alan Moore’s revolutionary 1986-87 comic book, illustrated by Dave Gibbons, has frequently been called unfilmable. Hollywood has tried and failed numerous times throughout the years to capture this outstanding and ingenious work, and Moore’s disgust with previous adaptations of his books (V for Vendetta, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) induced him to refuse any writing credit for this film and vow he’d never see it. The book’s intricate and labyrinthine structure, fully realized back-stories and breathtaking visual transitions between plots certainly do seem impossible to adapt to the silver screen. But goddammit, Zack Snyder tried, didn’t he? This is a man who loves the source material. He loves it the way we love it. And it shows.
Plenty of scoopy goodness today, folks!
Watchmen tops the box office, although with numbers lower than expected. I FINALLY get to see this baby tomorrow night, so look for my review on Thursday!
More news on the Whedon/Goddard horror project Cabin in the Woods is obviously going to grab my attention.
