YES! That’s right! I’m seeing Piranha 3D this very evening and I’m CRAZY! EXCITED! Reviews are crazy good, box office numbers are decent and a sequel’s already in the works!

Loads of casting news for Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class here, including the news that Mad Men‘s January Jones will play the ultimate ice queen and forever Marla girl crush Emma Frost. Jones certainly has the right look, but I’m not convinced she can actually act. Maybe there’s more than petulant Betty to Jones’s repertoire. I hope so, because I REALLY don’t want this movie to screw up Emma Frost. Read my review of Vaughn’s Kick-Ass here.

io9 gives us a great preview of all the fall genre movies. I’m so excited about some of these!!! And markedly less so about others. What are your thoughts, readers?

Boring and derivative Chaos Experiment trailer here. Why do directors always insist on putting Val Kilmer in a turtleneck these days? Homeboy is missing the required equipment to rock that style.

 I much prefer the look of Kilmer’s upcoming The Thaw, which has a groovy, grody and fast-paced trailer. My interest may also have something to do with my boyfriend Aaron Ashmore’s involvement. Yay Jimmy!

Ashmore’s also supposed to be the male lead in this movie. Oh how I love that he’s becoming a little scream king!

In box office news that is actually news to no one, Michael Bay is still eating Hollywood for breakfast with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Michael Mann isn’t doing too badly with Public Enemies, The Hangover is still in the Top 5 and UP is at 6th.

Box office-wise, Michael Bay is still managing to crap out billions of dollars without breaking a sweat, The Hangover is hanging in there at third, UP is at a well-deserved fifth, Star Trek will remain in the Top 10 until Judgment Day, and Away We Go is at a surprising and pleasing 10th.

In fists of fury news, Daybreakers‘ Furst Brothers are eyeing a remaking of An American Werewolf in London, in order to thoroughly bore and depress everyone ever. Oh and you can check out the official Daybreakers trailer here.
