Extra! Extra! Marla resurfaces after mysterious disappearance!

I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA lately. I’m *almost* ready to return full-force back to ye olde blogge once things settle down. In the meantime, here’s another shorty!

sandman

My all-time favorite comic series, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, is being adapted for television, and Gaiman is possibly not involved? A WORLD OF NO. Oh yeah, and somehow Eric Kripke (creator of Supernatural) is involved. Read my review of Supernatural here.

First pics of January Jones as bad-ass Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. She looks more silly than bad-ass, but whattya gonna do? Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Oz Oz Oz Oz Oz YAWN.

Lord, are there a lot of Wizard of Oz projects on the horizon! And yet none of them is a faithful adaptation of the book (not the musical!) Wicked. le sigh.

The funny thing is, I kind of love all the names attached. Glee’s Lea Michele is set to star in an adaptation also featuring Dan Akroyd, Martin Short, Jim Belushi, Hugh Dancy, Patrick Stewart and Oliver Platt (?!) in a movie musical. Uhm but Bryan Adams is doing the music. wtf? And the OTHER adaptation is a prequel titled Oz, The Great and Powerful directed by SAM RAIMI and starring ROBERT DOWNEY, JR.! Still, yawn. (read my review of Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell here.)

Michael Bay shocks the hell out of me by admitting that he is human and makes mistakes. The next Transformers is to include less wacky “comedy,” fewer racist robot stereotypes (none, dare we hope?) and not nearly so many endings. And of course, no Megan Fox. (read my write-up of megalomaniac Bay here.)   Continue reading

Extra! Extra! Looks like I'm the one who has some words to eat!

Yes, despite my taunting of Eric Kripke last week,  he actually is sticking with his original plan of ditching Supernatural after five seasons. Next season will bring a new arc and a new showrunner! Not sure how I feel about this; I may just pretend the series ends with this year’s finale.

Supernatural‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Sam Worthington will star in a movie about League City’s I-45 “killing fields,” where as many as 70 bodies have turned up over the years.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of the excellent 28 Weeks Later, has a new film out called The Intruders, a fright flick centered around an 11-yr-old girl. No more details yet, but I’m excited!

The new international Tron Legacy poster is out and awesome. Continue reading

Today is simply rife with news that I thought I’d never care about again and yet cannot seem to keep myself from reporting repeating!

Extra! Extra! A new vampire movie actually sounds interesting to me!

But before that…the SAG awards happened, apparently.

So…Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City) is attached to direct a Dracula: Year Zero flick about The Count’s transformation from Vlad the Impaler to Dracula. And Marla’s boyfriend Sam Worthington’s name is being bandied about! And all of a sudden I’m interested in vampires again! And then I remembered that I’m super pumped to watch Chan-wook Park’s sorta-vampire flick Thirst this week, and my life got all twisty-turny. Every time I think I’m out, they suck me back in.

I missed you, blog! I’ve been bubbling over with glorious scoop and now I can finally say that OMG I LOVE THE ART FROM TRON LEGACY! Check it:

I KNOW! I KNOW!!

Now, from the far lamer side of the news stream: Blake Lively?! As Carol Ferris?! Are you SHITTING ME? I don’t hate Blake or anything, but she’s 22 and blonde. She’s not Carol Ferris, okay? She’s not.

Faithful flock, it’s me again, Reverend Jon!

Finally! A Family Ties spinoff.

Finally! A Family Ties spinoff.

Canal Plus, a.k.a. The Euro HBO, a.k.a. the people behind every interesting foreign film you’ve seen, have given the go-ahead to a 12 episode mini-series based on the lives of everyone’s favorite incestuous murders (and no I don’t mean the Menendez brothers): the Borgias! This project is apparently going to be competing with a similar project headed up by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Interview with a Vampire) on Showtime.

I hope you all were able to enjoy a labor-free Labor Day! Yeah? Now get to work! This News Day Tuesday is serious business!

The Host 2. I’m not sure I’ll see it, but at least it’s not infuriating me like the American remake is.

Sooooo much sequels-and-remakes news in this NDTD; prepare yourself. 30 Days of Night.

It’s a quickie today, folks! Sorry for the systemic whittling down of DIH, but I promise to beef it back up with a vengeance in 6 weeks (aka: post-nuptially).

hunger games

Posh D has unveiled a new blog: Forever Young Adult! Also featuring Erin, frequent commenter here! I am forever in PD’s debt after she loaned me Hunger Games, so take her recommendations very seriously, folks.

20th Century Fox is rebooting the Fantastic Four franchise, hopefully with an entirely new cast and creative team because the last ones sucked ass.
